We are a research and design nonprofit focused on understanding how Haitians interact with financial services and designing digital solutions that meet their needs. Why We Doing It
According research conducted by Dalberg and Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion (University Of California and University of Sidney) Haiti’s financial system remains one of the most underdeveloped in the world. Only 15% of the population has access to formal banking services, leaving the vast majority without the financial tools they need to save, invest, and grow. Despite the growing presence of mobile phones, efforts to introduce mobile money services have largely failed to meet people's needs.
Despite high levels of awareness, fewer than 10% of Haitians actively use mobile money platforms, with many citing concerns over security and a lack of understanding of how these systems work . Traditional banks and financial institutions recognize the need for digital solutions, but the risks and capital required for research and development have stalled innovation . It’s clear that Haiti is in urgent need of financial solutions that are accessible, secure, and designed with the people’s needs at the core.
Qofin is dedicated to solving one of Haiti’s most pressing challenges—limited access to financial services. With fewer than two bank branches per 100,000 people and over 70% of the population financially excluded, our mission is to bring modern, secure, and user-centered digital financial tools to all Haitians. We believe that everyone should have access to the financial tools they need to thrive, regardless of where they live or their income level.

Design: Using our research, we design digital financial solutions that are intuitive, secure, and scalable.
Empower: Through education and collaboration, we empower communities to adopt and benefit from the digital tools we create, fostering financial inclusion and independence
Behind the Vision
Elson is the founder of Qofin Technologies . Born and raised in Haiti, Elson moved to the U.S. in 2017 and has since dedicated himself to finding solutions that can bridge the gap between traditional banking and digital finance in his home country. Currently, a User Experience Design student at Full Sail University, Elson brings a deep understanding of human-centered design to Qofin. With over 5 years of experience working at Synchrony Bank, he has seen firsthand the impact that modern financial tools can have on people’s lives. His mission is to leverage his skills and experience to create digital banking solutions that empower every Haitian.
